Who is deserving of the Research Council awards for 2014?

The Award for Outstanding Research

The Research Council’s Award for Outstanding Research comprises a cash prize of NOK 1 million and is given to a researcher who demonstrates excellence in research achieved nationally as well as internationally. Candidates may be nominated within any subject field or discipline, as well as for interdisciplinary research cooperation. The award is intended to encourage further research activity. Award-winners also receive the Møbius statuette, designed by Norwegian sculptor Aase Texmon Rygh.

Nominations must contain specific information detailing and documenting the individual’s achievements and eligibility for the award. They should be submitted to the Research Council in hard copy by post at the latest by 13 June 2014. See the link to the award statutes (in Norwegian) at right.

The Innovation Award

The Research Council’s Innovation Award comprises a cash prize of NOK 500 000 and is given to an organisation that has demonstrated an outstanding ability to apply research results in a manner that generates research-based innovation. Eligible candidates for the award are businesses or public sector organisations that have or have had support from the Research Council’s user-driven innovation programmes. The prize money must be used for continued innovation activities.

Candidates must be proposed using the “Innovation Award” nomination form (in Norwegian). The completed form must be submitted to the Research Council by email at the latest by 13 June 2014. See the links to the nomination form and the award statutes (in Norwegian) at right.

The Award for Excellence in Communication of Science

The Research Council’s Award for Excellence in Communication of Science comprises a cash prize of NOK 250 000 and is given to a researcher who has demonstrated outstanding ability and innovation in communicating the results of his or her research. The award is intended to encourage communication of research results to the general public, and may be granted for all types of dissemination through all types of media.

Candidates must be proposed using the “Award for Excellence in Communication of Science” nomination form (in Norwegian). The completed form must be submitted to the Research Council by email at the latest by 13 June 2014. See the link to the nomination form (in Norwegian) at right.
