Vollebæk goes to Washington

Former Norwegian Foreign Minister Knut Vollebæk, 54, has been named Norway’s ambassador to the United States, replacing Tom Vraalsen. Mr. Vollebæk said he considered the appointment a privilege because the United States was Norway’s most important ally. "Both as a diplomat and especially as foreign minister I have had a close relationship with the United States, which is one of our closest partners," Mr. Vollebæk said.
