Statoil on behalf of the Johan Sverdrup licence has awarded Vissim AS the contract to supply, install, and commission marine radar system for the Statoil operated Johan Sverdrup facility.
The contract includes Vissim’s proprietary ATEX Radar Domes and software.
‘With Vissim winning the Johan Sverdrup contract, we have proven that Vissim can continue to deliver a first class VTMS system in an increasingly competitive market. We have both the expertise and experience that our customers expect, and we are proud to be working with Statoil on one of the most significant North Sea development projects ever. This contract is a validation of the work Vissim has been conducting with Statoil since 1996 in order to use real time data to save significant costs in offshore operations. With this contract, Vissim continues to expand one the world’s largest private remote real time radar, voice communication, and emergency response systems on the Norwegian Continental Shelf,’ says Vissim CEO Per Arne Henæs.
The contract includes multiple systems – Radar, VHF (radio), and the Automatic Identification System (AIS) – which will then be integrated via Vissim’s software into a traffic display for monitoring from the Johan Sverdrup facility. Furthermore, the VTMS system will be integrated into the Statoil Marine Operations System, which remotely monitors all Statoil offshore assets and operations in the Norwegian Continental Shelf (NCS) from an onshore hub in Sandsli, Norway. The Statoil Marine Operations System is also run on Vissim software.
The project will be managed out of Vissim’s offices in Horten, Norway and is expected to commence in the second half of 2015.
