Villa has been farming accordning to the private standard of the supermarket chain Whole Foods Market in USA. The company has participated in the development and implementation of the standard and thus developed a great know how and experience in eco-friendly farming.

The ASC mission is “to transform aquaculture towards environmental sustainability and social responsibility using efficient market mechanisms that create value across the chain”.

“I am delighted to learn that the first ASC salmon audit is scheduled for September 2013, and if the farm is certified the first ASC salmon products could reach the market this autumn. The launch of the Salmon Standard is a crucial milestone for the ASC. Farmed salmon is a well-known and respected commodity, widely available and eaten and enjoyed globally. And while it has a great reputation, minimising the associated environmental and social footprint of its production will be crucial to maintain its important market position into the future.” says Chris Ninnes, CEO of the ASC.

This confirms Villa’s position as the leading innovator in sustainable farmed fish.
