Veidekke to build big African power plant

Norway's Veidekke has been awarded the leadership role in constructing a large hydropower project on the Nile River in Uganda, 8 km downstream from Lake Victoria at Bujagali Falls.

The facility will consist of a massive dam with four generator turbines and high-tension lines to Kampala and Owen Falls. Veidekke's contribution to the international consortium will bring it an estimated USD 110 million (NOK 1 billion), making it the company's largest contract ever, according to Dagens Næringsliv.
