The Restructuring of Surplus Personnel from Rec and Sic Processing

BIS Production Partner IFS will help 380 surplus employees from REC in Porsgrunn and SiC Processing in Porsgrunn and Glomfjord to find new jobs.

BIS Production Partner IFS have been through similar processes before. Norske Skog Union, Ineos and Norske Skog Follum have been helped through restructuring processes.

We also have many years of experience from restructuring processes in the Hydro system. That's where we have the origin of our business, said manager of marketing and business development at IFS, Ole Bjorn Skoftedalen. To assist us, we get help from subcontractors to carry out job search training and provide financial advice.

The process was very fast. On October 25th REC decided to close down half of its production in Norway. Only a few days later, IFS started their work.

We will carry out individual assessment interviews with each employee as desired. Based on past experience, we estimate that more than 90 percent are going to use our services.

ADVICE: Leif Bråthen has an initial chat with the supervisor of the job center, Jan Halvorsen. It does not look bright when it comes to my seniority, says Bråthen. I have not worked long enough to continue at REC. Therefore, it is good to have help from the job center.
