The Research Council is announcing NOK 71 million for urban research

The call for proposals gives priority to thematic areas that support the objective of achieving a sustainable society – socially, economically and environmentally.

The figure below gives an indication of the thinking behind the three thematic areas in the call. Priority will be given to projects that combine at least two of these three areas in an effective manner.

Expanding its horizons

“We are seeking integrated solutions. The challenges facing cities and urban areas are complex. We must therefore search for solutions at the interface between subject areas, sectors and branches of industry. This means that researchers, actors from trade and industry, and others must create new constellations and be open to each other’s ways of thinking and expertise,” says Fridtjof Unander, Executive Director of the Division for Energy, Resources and the Environment at the Research Council.
