Svalbard to become Norway's new research hub

Svalbard has become one of the most sought after locations for studying climate change. 

More than 30 different nations have so far this year established projects here. 

Svalbard is described as an accessible location in the Arctic and some projects are even seeing full-time all-year around staff settle in. 

 

Last year, numbers showed that 60 percent of the total days of research completed at Svalbard were by Norwegian scientists, both Germany and Poland were at 11 percent each, France and the UK had 3 percent each, and the China, Russia and Italy had about two percent of the total number of days.
