Continuing growth in the Norwegian employment market.
As a quarter of companies are forecasting employment growth in the next 12 months there is still a strong demand for workers in Norway.
According to a business survey performed by the Norwegian Labour and Welfare Administration (NAV) the demand has dropped some, and 11 per cent of businesses are expecting to let people go during 2013. However, the unemployment rate in Norway will remain exceptionally strong compared to other European markets. Property management and services will see the largest increase in workforce, but also the mining and quarry sectors are growing. Oslo is still the city that is expecting the biggest increase in need of workers and the capital will see a significant population growth over the coming years.
- The labor shortage is greatest in health, nursing and caring professions, engineering, ICT and teaching. This is the same pattern seen in 2012, but the engineering shortage is reduced from last year, says Labour and Welfare Director Joakim Lystad to ANB.
12,200 businesses responded to the survey.
