Statoil To Close Deal With Poland

Statoil is in the process of signing a final contract which will enable them to deliver natural gas to Poland over a period of 16 years, according to the Norway Post. To take effect in 2008, the contract consists of a new gas pipeline to be built from the North Sea through the Baltic Sea to Poland, which will allow Statoil to supply Poland with 5 billion cubic metres of gas per year. The pipeline will cost around NOK 10 billion. The new pipeline will give southeastern Norway better access to gas, hence giving the availability of more gas to be sold to Sweden aswell.
