Statoil submits analysis on possible development of gas fields in Barents Sea

Statoil AS said the partners in the gas and condensate fields of Snoehvit, Askeladd and Albatross in the Barents Sea are about to submit an impact analysis to the Norway's ministry of petroleum and energy. The impact analysis is part of the plan for development and operation of the fields. Development has not yet been decided by the licence but the intention is to submit a plan for development this summer, Statoil said. It would then be possible to start development in 2002 and production could begin in 2006. The estimated production period is 30 years. Partners in Snoehvit are Statoil, TotalFinaElf, Norsk Hydro ASA, Svenska Petroleum AB, Amerada Hess Corp and RWE-DEA.
