Norwegian energy producer Statoil wants to develop a floating wind farm offshore Scotland.
The wind farm will be Europe's largest of its kind, with a planned capacity of 30 MegaWatts.
The project will consist of five floating turbines in an area 20-30 km off the coast of Aberdeenshire, Stavanger Aftenblad reports.
The plans are based on Statoil's test project Hywind off the coast of Karmøy, Western Norway, which has been up and running since 2009.
Statoil is now working to obtain the necessary permits from the Scottish government, according to The Norway Post.
