Stadt Electric Propulsion to 6 New Vessels

Based on a diesel electric package from STADT in Norway, the Turkish shipyards Besiktas and Cemre has recentrly delivered five out of six seismic support vessels.

Stadt StaschoThe latest vessel – MV Ocean Dolphin is designed by the Norwegian ship designers SALT, and owned and operated by the Norwegian shipping company Norfield – Vestland Offshore.

The STADT scope is a major part of the power plant for these ships, incorporating the  690 V  main switchboards that handles 4 x 1000 kW Yanmar diesel-generators, the STADT  No-Loss electric drives, AC propulsion motors ( driving CAT-BERG propellers), and the Power Management System.

Also the THOR Offshore from the  Faeroe Island has taken delivery of 4 quite similar vessels from the Besiktas Shipyard. These ones also based on the same type of STADT No-Loss diesel-electric propulsion arrangement  as for the Cemre ships to Vestland Offshore.

These ships will now go in to regular service. The reliability and efficiency in the STADT electric system has been a major reason why this solution was chosen.  The ships will benefit from low fuel consumption, low emission, and a very robust and reliable redundant propulsion arrangement.
