Røkke still in Kværner hunt

Kjell Inge Røkke, Norway's most daring financial acrobat, has not given up the battle for Kværner even though European Union officials have limited his company's purchase of Kværner shares to 17.8 percent of the company.

Now Mr. Røkke is searching for a like-minded investor to buy the additional shares his company, Aker Maritime, was denied and to push for the same kind of reforms Mr. Røkke favours - reforms that would boost Kværner's bottom line in the short-term. Kværner executives have been hostile to Mr. Røkke's buy-in, though many analysts see a future merger of the two offshore companies as natural.
