Røkke seeks clean sweep at Kværner

Norwegian financier Kjell Inge Røkke has had specific discussions with other Kværner shareholders about replacing the industrial conglomerate’s board of directors and senior management team. Aker Maritime, a company controlled by Mr. Røkke, recently purchased 17.8 percent of Kværner, its main Norwegian competitor in the offshore services sector. Analysts foresee some form of merger developing between the two tradition-rich companies, but Kværner’s leaders have opposed the notion of putting Mr. Røkke in the driver’s seat.
