Record income from oil tax

Oil companies operating on the Norwegian Shelf in the North Sea paid a record NOK 98 billion in taxes to the Norwegian state last year. The previous record, for the year 2000, was NOK 94.8 billion, NRK reports. The increase from 2000 till last year, was 7 per cent, according to figures from the Oil Directorate. Last year's record payment by the companies operating in the North Sea, is equal to nearly half the collective amount paid in taxes by private Norwegian tax payers.
