Record imports of food to Norway

The import of food to Norway reached a new high last year, when 3.6 million tons of food valued at NOK 29 billion was brought across the border, Nationen reports.

More than half of the food imports came from EU nations, with Sweden and Denmark topping the list.
At the same time Norway exported food worth NOK 4.3 billion in 2007.
 
The increase in food imports over the last ten years is 57 per cent, according to fresh figures from the Norwegian Agricultural Authority (Statens landbruksforvaltning).
