Rainpower wins Mosambique refurbishment contract

Electricidade de Moçambique (EDM), the state owned electricity producer in Mozambique, and a consortium consisting of Cegelec, Hydrokarst and Rainpower (the Consortium) under the leadership of Cegelec have signed a contract for the complete refurbishment of two hydropower stations in the Manica province in Mozambique.
 
The contract was signed in Maputo, the capital of Mozambique, on May 17, 2013. The work shall be completed in early 2016.
 
The total contract amount is approx. SEK 820 million; Rainpower's share is approx. SEK 145 million.
 
The total scope comprises refurbishment of mechanical and electrical equipment, control system, communication system, dams and tunnels. In the consortium, Cegelec is responsible for all electrical/control supplies, Hydrokarst for dams and hydraulic steelworks and tunnels, and Rainpower for the turbine scope.
 
The project is financed by by SIDA in Sweden and with loans by French and German banks.
