Production Started On Glitne Field

The Glitne oil field has been put on stream. Petrojarl I has commenced oil production from the Glitne field in the Norwegian sector in the North Sea, which is operated by Statoil, according to Offshore Drilling, Oil And Gas Operations, Exploration and Oilnet. The production on this field is estimated to last around 30 months with 40,000 barrels of oil per day produced and then moved to shore with the shuttle tanker Petroskald, which will be managed by Petroleum GEO Services. "Glitne is the second smallest oil field that Statoil has developed in Norway. The availability of Petroljarl I makes it possible to develop this field and Statoil has enjoyed an excellent relationship with Petroleum GEO Services throughout this project. Statoil will continue to look for oppurtunities to develop smaller oil fields using both existing infrastructure and independent solutions, as appropiate", stated Senior Vice President of Statoil, Henrik Carlsen.
