Opera browser winning a war

Opera Software has launched its much-anticipated Opera 5.0 Internet browser, the free edition of the company's Opera browser.

Opera Software's acclaimed browser for Windows ranks, with its 1.5 million users, third in the world, trailing only Microsoft Internet Explorer and AOL/Netscape. "Opera's status as just one of many alternative browsers for Internet users is over," said company director Jon S. von Tetzchner. "Now we have placed ourselves right in the middle of the browser war." Opera 5.0 is financed through a banner advertisement that is downloaded onto the browser every week.
