At the launch of this year’s OTC the oil and gas industry was given a timely reminder of the risks linked to our activities.

The tragic Deepwater Horizon accident serves to demonstrate that we are deluding ourselves if we believe that this event will only impact on work being carried out in the deep water Gulf of Mexico.

The accident will have a much wider impact, with obvious consequences for all deep water oil and gas production across the globe.

This year’s ONS Conference programme will direct its major focus on how we can increase oil and gas production in an environmentally sustainable way, and solve the technological challenges facing the industry by transferring experience and technology from other sectors, such as the space industry. We are convinced that our exhibitors will address these issues in no uncertain terms on their stands, and we know that they will be reflected in our four dedicated industry sector parks.
