A new storm warning for the North Sea has made energy producer ConocoPhillips transfer 157 oil workers from the Ekofisk Field to shore as a precaution, but say it is not an evacuation.
The company is monitoring the development of the low pressure area which will hit early Friday morning.
According to NRK, BP is also considering moving people from the field.
The Met Office has forecast full gale force winds with hurricane gusts in the southern part of the North Sea.
