NOV wins 2013 World Oil Awards

National Oilwell Varco won the award for Best Health, Safety, Environment/Sustainable Development Onshore technology for its AQUA-VESTM Mobile Water Treatment System at the 2013 World Oil Awards Gala on October 17, 2013. Two other National Oilwell Varco technologies were finalists in the categories for Best Drilling Technology and Best Well Intervention.

The World Oil Awards serves as a yearly opportunity to spotlight important innovations and achievements in the upstream oil and gas industry. An advisory board comprised of leaders in the oil and gas industry conducts the annual judging process to determine the industry’s premier technologies.

NOV’s AQUA-VES mobile water treatment system is field-proven to remove nearly all contaminants, effectively clearing the way for maximum reuse of saltwater-based mud, frac flowback, slop and produced waters; resulting in a reduced waste stream. The AQUA-VES system requires no chemicals for the removal of total suspended solids, total petroleum hydrocarbons, bacteria or oxidized metal. The new system consistently delivers clean brine with average turbidity below five NTU (Nephelometric Turbidity Units). This unique system utilizes self-cleaning membranes with cutting edge separation technology to process up to 10,000 barrels of clean permeate per day. The AQUA-VES offering is part of NOV’s FluidControl division.
