NOV land rig solutions and NOV quality tubing host manufacturing day

NOV was proud to host students from Southwest Schools as they toured NOV Quality Tubing and the Galena Park land rig facility on National Manufacturing Day. Manufacturing Day is a nationwide event that hosts high school-age students and provides a tour of U.S. manufacturing facilities to raise student interest in future career fields and address the skilled labor shortage facing many companies.

At NOV Quality Tubing, high school kids and teachers from Southwest Schools got to tour the recently expanded manufacturing facility and see how the coiled tubing product is manufactured from start to finish. In addition to explaining each step of the process, NOV Quality Tubing tour guides enjoyed answering the students’ questions about how they trained and moved up in their positions in the manufacturing industry.
“One of the kids asked about an application, saying he was ready to go to work!” said Chris Garcia, Slitter Operation Supervisor. Another student asked for advice on what field of engineering she should pursue in college that would allow her to be involved in designing and manufacturing equipment for the oil and gas industry.
“I am proud of the efforts our team went through to make this a memorable event for the students,” said Dan Dennis, President of NOV Quality Tubing. “I spoke with principals, academic advisors, and students at the end of their tour. To say that they were blown away is an understatement. Whatever path these students choose for their future, it is good to know that we were able to show them an environment that remains a mystery to most people.”
