The building will offer office space to Norwegian businesses that are trying to establish themselves in Silicon Valley. They will also assist with finding mentors, consultants and other quality services that might be beneficial in the start-up phase.

"If Norwegian companies are to keep track with the "changing times" and understand the technological trends that will influence the world in the years to come, a permanent presence here in Silicon Valley is vital," said the Crown Prince at the opening.

Later in the afternoon he met with several representatives of Norwegian companies in the area and their American partners, at a reception held by the Norwegian Consulate.

Also on the agenda is the opening of the 10th annual Transatlantic Science Week at University of California, a central meeting place for politicians, researchers and other people working with higher education, science and innovation in the U.S., Canada and Norway.
