Norway will send emergency equipment which will be used to help combat the extensive oil spills from the wrecked tanker "Prestige" which sank north of the Spanish coast on Tuesday.
Spain has asked to buy 2400 metres of oil spillage containment booms from Norwegian emergency depots.
The equipment will be sent from depots in Horten, Kristiansand and Stavanger.
The emergency equipment which belongs to the Norwegian Pollution Control Authority will be replaced within 12 weeks, and will be paid for by a Spanish firm, Aftenposten reports.
-I am happy that we are able to assist Spain in limiting the pollution from the spillage from the wrecked tanker," Environmental Minister Boerge Brende says.
