Norway's Statoil awards $79M contract to FMC

Houston-based FMC Technologies Inc. announced today that it has signed a $79 million contract with the Norwegian oil company Statoil ASA to supply subsea production systems for Statoil's Norne Satellites project in the North Sea.

Houston-based FMC Technologies Inc. announced today that it has signed a $79 million contract with the Norwegian oil company Statoil ASA to supply subsea production systems for Statoil's Norne Satellites project in the North Sea.

 An additional contract will include technical services related to installation and startup. The Norne satellites will be tied back to Statoil's Norne production vessel. Oil production is anticipated to begin by late 2005.

The Norne field is located 125 miles off the Norwegian coast in 1,250 feet of water. Production in the field began in 1997.
