Norway's SensoNor boosts car safety

SensoNor, the Norwegian supplier of automotive technology, has signed a contract to supply its newly designed crash sensor, SAR10, to the world's largest producer of airbag systems.

Autoliv AB of Sweden has agreed to purchase at least USD 37 million (NOK 350 million) worth of SAR10 sensors, which are designed to activate a variety of safety systems if a vehicle begins to move in a dangerous fashion, such as rolling over. Autoliv said SensoNor would be its exclusive supplier of rollover sensors. Serial production of the SAR10 will begin in 2002.
