Norway: February oil production beats NPD’s prognosis

The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD) has reported that preliminary production figures for February 2015 indicate an average daily production of about 1 925 000 barrels of oil, NGL and condensate.

This is 6 000 barrels per day (about 0.3 percent) less than in January 2015. Total gas sales were about 10.1 billion Sm3, which is 0.2 GSm3less than previous month.

The average daily liquid production in February was: 1 548 000 barrels of oil, 332 000 barrels of NGL and 45 000 barrels of condensate. The oil production is 0.3 percent above the oil production in February last year.

According to NPD, the following fields had reduced production in February due to various technical problems: Brynhild, Draugen, Ekofisk and Eldfisk. The Gudrun field has been shut down since the February 18, due to a gas leak.

The oil production is about 2 percent above the NPD’s prognosis for the month.

The total petroleum production for the first two months in 2015 is about 38.5 million Sm3 oil equivalents. (MSm3 o.e.), broken down as follows: about 14.5 MSm3 o.e. of oil, about 3.6 MSm3 o.e. of NGL and condensate and about 20.4 MSm3 o.e. of gas for sale. The total volume is 1.1 MSm3 o.e. higher than for the same period in 2014.

Final production figures from January 2014 show an average daily production of about 1.544 million barrels of oil, 0.388 million barrels of NGL and condensate and a total of 10.3 billion Sm3 saleable gas production.
