Norway and Greenland agreed quota agreements

Fisheries Cooperation between Norway and Greenland strengthened in several areas, said Minister of Fisheries and Coastal Affairs Lisbeth Berg-Hansen (AP) after the countries agreed onquotas for 2013.

I am very happy that Norway and Greenland have agreed quotas for 2013, says Berg-Hansen in a statement.

Quota level from this year will be largely retained, but the Norwegian quota for pelagic redfish is increased by 300 tons. The cod quota for Greenland was increased by 300 tons. Norway and Greenland have also agreed to expand cooperation further research.

Greenland's cod quota in the Barents Sea has increased to 3,500 tons. As with this year's haddock quota of 1,050 tonnes and saithe quota is 1,000 tonnes. In addition, the Greenland fish up to260 tonnes of bycatch of other species.

The parties agree to cooperate on electronic capture and reporting activity in each other zones, in order to implement this from 1 January 2014.
