Nera Networks has signed a contract with a major telecom operator in South America. The contract is for delivery of Evolution Series TM microwave radios and services for 270 hops, and 121 upgrades. The estimated contract value is NOK 45 million, and delivery is expected to take place in 2nd quarter 2010.

"This contract is further proof of the flexibility and versatility of the Evolution Series platform. Our deliveries will both increase the transmission capacity in our customer's network and facilitate migration from existing circuits into Ethernet/IP," says Nera Networks CEO Per Arne Henæs.

In addition to the microwave radios, Nera Networks will also deliver antennas and installation material. Services include commissioning, installation and engineering.

The Americas accounted for more than 40 percent of revenue in Nera Networks in 2009, and almost half the revenue in the final quarter of the year. The largest markets in South America are the main growth contributors.

"We have established long-term customer relationships with several of the leading telecom operators in the region, and take the award of this contract as a confirmation of our solid standing in a market that offers growth opportunities," says Henæs.
