National Science Week provides the public at large with a chance to meet with researchers in an everyday context: at the lunch table, in the street or town square, at shopping centres, cafés, pubs, on boats or trains.

The festival programme features debates, “stand-up scientist” performances, a researcher grand-prix, myth-busting, experiments, researcher evenings for young people – and, of course, comprehensive science fairs in locations all across the country.

National Science Week is being held for the eighteenth time. In 2012 the overall theme for the festival is “society”, with “the human dimension” selected as the motto for activities by the arrangers of the festival.
