National budget announcements: Ocean Space Centre awarded NOK 15 million

Monday 14th October, the Government Stoltenberg presented its budget for 2014. 

The Trade and Industry Ministry's budget proposal states that:

  • "The government proposes to allocate NOK 15 million for further study of the Ocean Space Centre.
  • The aim of the center is to become an international knowledge hub in marine technology. "

MARINTEK CEO, Oddvar Eide said in a statement that "The proposed funding earmarked from the state budget in 2014 is very important for the work to realize the Ocean Space Centre. We in communities experiencing this as a real milestone in the work that has been ongoing since 2005. This is the biggest public funding for the project, ensuring the start of the next phase of the assessment work towards "Quality 2" (KS2). We want to target further to achieve the goal of the future knowledge center for marine technology will be established as soon as possible. Based on what the Conservatives and the Progress Party in Parliament joined forces in a note to the Research Report in June this year, we hope and believe that the government Solberg will monitor the allocation of its budget, and often follows up with additional funds to ensure optimal progress. ".
