Multiconsult establishes a subsidiary in England; Norplan Hydropower Ltd

Norplan`s partner Multiconsult AS of Norway is pleased to announce the opening of a new office in Ashford, Kent on the 10th of December 2012 to service the company’s expanding portfolio of work, particularly in the hydropower sector. This is the first office in the UK that Multiconsult has opened and joins the expanding network of offices Multiconsult have around the world.

Norplan Hydropower Ltd will initially consist of 20 highly qualified hydropower engineers.

- Through the establishment of this subsidiary, Multiconsult has gained a team of new employees who are very talented, many of whom are considered to be international experts in hydropower planning and engineering. We have worked together with this team on several international projects and we know that they will strengthen our position further – both in the Norwegian and international hydropower marked, says Tom Ødegaard, Chairman of the board.

The 22 new employees in this office, who have all transferred to our new company from URS, join our 1500 staff permanent staff. They bring with them a long history of working on hydropower projects worldwide from mini hydro through to schemes of several thousand MW. Their expertise combined with our existing capabilities, will provide our clients with an unrivalled service across all aspects of hydropower development.

- Renewable energy is one of our priority markets and we have ambitious growth plans within this sector. It is difficult to recruit senior hydropower engineers in Norway, but with this new office established with a talented core of engineers, we have taken a major step forward in our growth strategy and have provided an ideal platform for further recruitment, says Christian Nørgaard Madsen, CEO Multiconsult AS.

Multiconsult is one of Norway’s largest Consulting Engineers with more than 1500 employees. Multiconsult operates under the name NORPLAN for renewable projects outside Scandinavia.
