The water treatment plant at Mongstad on the Norwegian west coast has been extensively upgraded and modernised. SAR AS, the recycling and energy recovery specialists, reports that a new milestone was reached 12th July 2016 when the first discharge of processed water to sea took place.
ENVIRONMENTAL FOOTPRINT REDUCED
The plant has an annual discharge licence of 240 000m3. It forms an integral part of SAR’s leading position in treating contaminated water and drilling waste. This is a net increase in available treatment capacity in Norway, and SAR states that it represents a fantastic opportunity for existing and new customers. The capacity makes the need to export water for treatment at similar plants abroad unnecessary and thereby reduces the overall environmental footprint.
