Masa Yards order unconfirmed

Aker Kvaerner's Finnish shipyard Masa-Yards has confirmed the contract for the construction of an ice-breaker for the Far-Eastern Shipping Company (FESCO). The second ship announced as ordered in September has not been mentioned since.

The price on the vessel contracted to be built is euro 65 (USD 77.8) million and the delivery date is May 2005.

The original order mentioned two ice-breaking ships to be operated for ExxonMobil, as part of their work in the oil and gas project Sakhalin 1 in Russia.

Information director Geir Arne Drangeid had no information to offer on the order for the second ship, which client FESCO has not confirmed since.
