Norwegian music industry strikes a sharpened blow to filesharers as a 24-year-old is fined 100,000 NOK.
A 24 year-old man from Lillehammer, Norway earlier this week during a trial at Sør-Gudbrandsdal Municipal Court was given a 100,000 Norwegian Kroner fine for copyright right infringement. The man managed a website with the URL www.napster.no from the summer of 2001 until November of that same year, which hosted various music related links which functioned as downloads for MP3 music files.
The verdict states that the way the defendant ran the website he should have been aware that the legality of it was questionable.
The case was brought to trial as a collective effort between Norwegian music industry organisations, including TONO Nordic Copyright Bureau and several record companies.
