Hans Buch A/S and the ESL Group announced 23rd Septmeber 2008 that they have been awarded a contract for a Long Range Identification and Tracking (LRIT) turn-key solution by A. P. Moller - Maersk A/S.

The solution is based on Thrane & Thrane's SAILOR TT-3000LRIT terminal, which is the most cost-efficient stand-alone LRIT terminal in the maritime market and a perfect choice for ship-owners wanting to be absolutely sure to comply with the IMO LRIT regulation and requirements.

In addition to the stand-alone terminal the solution consists of the ESL LRIT Monitor Unit (LMU) specifically designed for interoperation with the SAILOR TT-3000LRIT. The LMU continuously monitors a range of vital indications from the SAILOR TT-3000LRIT, thereby providing the crew on-board with both visual and audible notification of the operational status of the SAILOR TT-3000LRIT.

Henrik Christensen, CEO of the ESL Group explains: "The SAILOR TT-3000LRIT mini-C terminal is specifically designed for global tracking applications with more than 40.000 terminals deployed globally. In addition, it is the only Inmarsat-C and mini-C terminal supporting the new Enhanced Pre-Assigned Data Reporting & Polling protocol, which will safe-guard the A. P. Moller - Maersk fleet for long term compliance with the LRIT requirements for maximum data loss". He continues: "During the last months of close dialog with the maritime industry in both Denmark and Germany, the need for a monitoring unit that could eliminate the on-board manual monitoring of the vessels LRIT performance, became evident for us, and the idea and concept was brought to life".

Complementing the hardware offering, Hans Buch and ESL Group has offered a unique turn-key solution to A. P. Moller - Maersk, where Hans Buch and the ESL Group will handle the total LRIT Project Management ensuring that the world's largest ship-owner will comply to the LRIT regulations.

Kristian Kristensen, Division Manager Marine at Hans Buch A/S explains: "The operational work involved in ensuring that a given fleet is compliant to the rules and regulations for LRIT, can be an extensive and some what complex process for any ship owner in the world. Thus, we have worked closely with A. P. Moller - Maersk in defining and identifying the right solution to ensure that the A. P. Moller - Maersk Fleet will meet and exceed the rules set forth in the LRIT regulation, as well as a guaranteeing A. P. Moller - Maersk a smooth implementation of this complex regulation. He continues: " We are pleased to have won this competitive tender process, as it proves that our offering and turn-key approach is strong enough to compete with the best in the industry!".

The final LRIT turn-key solution for A. P. Moller - Maersk is a result of a close dialog between the parties involved. A. P. Moller - Maersk have been instrumental in defining the baseline functionality of the ESL LRIT Monitor Unit and the Project Management process.

Bjarne Lauritzen, SVP Sales & Marketing of Thrane & Thrane, says: "We appreciate the steps that Hans Buch and the ESL Group have taken to develop a customized LRIT turn-key solution for and together with the worlds leading ship owner, as well as their engagement throughout the process.
