Leap in data storage power

The Norwegian company Opto-Magnetic Storage Systems is developing an opto-magnetic data storage technology with unprecedented capacity and low cost. The system can also provide extremely high search and transfer speeds as well as user access. The company (called O-MaSS for short) is part of Tandberg Data. During the second quarter of 2001 the company is expected to have acquired one or more strategic partners to advance the technology. Computer storage needs now double approximately every 15 months, and the demand curve is expected to become steeper.
