Leading Norwegian Construction Supplier Builds eCommerce Foundation With CA's Jasmineii

Computer Associates International, Inc. (CA) announced today that leading Norwegian construction materials retailer Bygger'n Norge is using CA's Jasmineii eBusiness platform to deploy an innovative eCommerce system that will streamline the building supplies procurement process for builders and contractors throughout Norway. Co-owned by Norwegian building material suppliers L.A. Lund and E.A. Smith, Bygger'n Norge operates 120 retail outlets across Norway. To improve its buying process efficiency with a minimal capital expenditure, Bygger'n Norge is assembling a clicks-and-mortar eBusiness infrastructure that combines traditional store operations with the around-the-clock availability and error-reducing automation of a Web-based order-processing system. The company is using Jasmineii to integrate heterogeneous applications and database systems that includes the catalog, the ERP system and the web-order system. "Thanks to Jasmineii, contractors and builders throughout Norway will now have direct access to the latest specs and prices on 40,000 items in the L.A. Lund product portfolio around the clock," Jorgen Hannestad, marketing director, L.A. Lund. "Tying directly into the automatic order confirmation system, our customers will be able to spend less time worrying about ordering materials and more time building." The highly convenient system will allow customers to order goods, collect visual and textual product information, and check the progress of their order 24 hours a day. Fully integrated along its supply chain -- from L.A. Lund and E.A. Smith to the product manufacturers themselves -- the eCommerce system will also provide shop employees with instant access to promotional information and critical price fluctuations. "Jasmineii will allow connection between the databases of the ERP systems of our affiliated companies and their suppliers," said Hannestad. "This will greatly increase the efficiencies of Bygger'n Norge's order fulfillment and tracking system while minimizing processing errors." CA's field services group is managing and supporting all phases of the eCommerce system implementation.
