Kongsberg Maritime, a world leading supplier of maritime simulation systems reports another successful European leg of its annual simulator user conference program. The European Simulation User Conference 2007 (UC2007), held this year at the Kalmar Academy in Sweden, 24th - 27th September, attracted approx. 100 delegates from Kongsberg Maritime simulation equipped colleges and maritime training institutes in Europe.

The conference theme of 'Optimizing the Maritime Educational Experience' was well received by attendees, many of whom have been conference regulars for years. The three day conference included customers presenting how they optimize their simulator training by sharing training experiences, which is a key theme that runs through all Kongsberg Maritime User Conferences.

In fitting with the conference theme, Kongsberg Maritime announced a special promotion - a free three month trial of Web Enabled navigation and engine room simulators - which will enable its customers to optimize the educational experience for their students by taking advantage of the latest simulation technology.

"Web Enabled Simulation is a growing area in the world of maritime simulation and Kongsberg Maritime is spearheading its development," comments Mark Stuart Treen, Sales & Marketing Manager, Kongsberg Maritime Simulation. "The conference highlighted several new developments in this field and although several customers already utilise our Web Enabled solutions, many more signed up for their three month trial at the conference."

UC2007 was co-hosted by the Kalmar Maritime Academy, a modern institute situated at the Kalmar harbour, possessing a wide spectrum of Kongsberg Maritime simulators. Students demonstrated various simulator functionalities to the conference delegates, including ice-navigation and DP-training during a guided tour of the academy.

In addition to the spirit of sharing that Kongsberg Maritime User Conferences foster, they are also the ideal proving ground for new ideas, products and services that the company has been working on. Delegates are provided with the latest simulation development road map, ensuring that they are fully aware of forthcoming products. They are also given the chance to take a vital role in Kongsberg Maritime's development process by providing feedback and ideas at conferences, and through the official feedback channels that the simulation department has in place.

Feedback from the conference itself was overwhelmingly positive. Ove Germunsdsson of Chalmers Lindholmen University College, Sweden's statement reflected the feedback of the rest of the delegates: "I always look forward to meeting everyone at the conference, as we get to discuss ideas about the learning processes. Kongsberg Maritime conferences are already on a very high level so it will be difficult to raise the quality any further!"

"Kongsberg Maritime has a massive network of simulation customers the world over, and through structured feedback, our Support24 system and our regular User Conferences around the world they are a huge driver of the direction that maritime simulation takes," concludes Mark Stuart Treen.
