Input and inspiration-day for doctoral fellows in climate research

The Research Council invites all doctoral fellows in climate research to an input and inspiration-day 17 November. Norwegian climate researchers has for a long time had a good international standing. Ensuring future recruitment to climate research is essential. This meeting place for doctoral fellows is an opportunity for the students  to build network, share experiences and get to know other relevant projects. The event is open to all doctoral fellows working in the field of climate research.

Professor Jørn H. Hurum from the Norwegian Center for Paleontology, well known for his research and ability to communicate and engage people, will share his experiences and advices. Ann-Cecilie Larsen, researcher at Oslo Cyclotron Laboratory Department of Physics, University of Oslo got ERC Starting Grants 2014 and and is invited to talk about the long road from applying to success.

Project presentations will be one of the key activities. Doctoral fellows in their final year will give lectures and others will exhibit posters.

Open to all
There are approximately 34 doctoral fellows working on humanities, social research and natural sciences projects under the KLIMAFORSK programme. In addition, climate-related research activities are being conducted in over 40 other programmes and initiatives at the Research Council. 

"We hope this initiative will be useful for the students and be one of many stepstones that contribute to keep the international high standing of Norwegian climate researchers” says Brita Slettemark, programme coordinator for the Large-scale Programme on Climate (KLIMAFORSK). Slettemark encourages all doctoral fellows working in the field of climate research to take part.

 “We expect the presentations to provide a picture of the range and scope of the research activities and enable us to learn from one another,” Ms Slettemark adds.
