India-Norway cooperation within social sciences and the humanities

The first INDEMB call for proposals will soon be launched through the NORGLOBAL programme. The deadline for submission of proposals will be 17 October this year.

The agreement between the Norwegian Embassy in New Dehli and the Research Council makes available an amount of NOK 125 million for stimulating Indo-Norwegian research programmes in the period 2012-2016.

The call will focus on the following issues:

• Inclusive growth
• Nature, society and culture
• State–society relations and trajectories of development
• Globalizing India – responding to a changing world

The call invites Norwegian research institutions to submit project proposals focusing on research on India and its region in cooperation with Indian research institutions. For proposals with a regional focus additional cooperative partners may/should be indicated.

The total budget of each proposal cannot exceed NOK 5 million. The project period is minimum 2 years and maximum 4 years.

The information above is subject to final approval by the programme board. More details about the call will be forthcoming once the announcement is published the first week of September.
