Hydro outlines Fram build-out

Norsk Hydro has firmed up a three-phase plan for developing the Fram oil field in the North Sea, and is expected to submit the first-phase plan to Norwegian oil authorities Dec. 21.

According to Upstream, an industry newspaper, the first phase covers Fram West and will cost an estimated USD 460 million (NOK 4,2 billion). The installation will consist of two subsea production facilities with five wells tied back to the semisubmersible platform at Troll C. "The Fram West project will be profitable with oil prises under USD 14 (NOK 127) a barrel," said project director Lars Christian Alsvik. "We expect that the field will achieve top production of 63,000 barrels just after production starts in October 2003."
