Hydro Automotive Structures, a subsidiary of Nork Hydro, is burnishing its reputation as a contractor for supercharged luxury cars.
Its latest assignment. according to Dagens Næringsliv, is to supply the light but tough aluminium framework for Aston Martin's new top-of-the-line V12 Vanquish, whose 6-litre engine will generate 450 hp to 500 hp and speeds up to 300 km/hr. Hydro's structural technology is already the mainstay in BMW's Z8 model, Lotus's Elise and Opel's Speedster. The Vanquish is to be unveiled in March. In Norway, where cars are heavily taxed, the price is expected to near USD 325,000 (NOK 3 million).
