HOV+DOKKA aiming for Norway

At a time when several Norwegian furniture producers are forced to close down their business or move out of the country, HOV+DOKKA AS is still aiming for production on domestic ground.

In the future HOV+DOKKA AS will aim all their resources on developing products, sales, marketing, customers and developing their distribution. This will be controlled and carried through from their head office in Oslo.

Estate and production will fission and be taken over by municipal real-estate agency and by a local investor-group. With that there will still be production of furniture in the facilities for office-furniture at Hov and conference-and sitting solutions at Dokka. This resolution will also secure the majority of employees their jobs.

“By combining the forces this way, you secure a solid foundation for capital and resources for future offensive priority programme. At the same time you take care of the technology and expertise the company has developed throughout the years,” says MD at HOV+DOKKA AS, Jørn Uno Pedersen.

“While several of our competitors have chosen to set parts of their production across the borders HOV+DOKKA determined to aim locally. We do believe that on long-term, the advantages of producing in Norway is greater than by a production abroad. We can not put our only focus on the costs of labour. Efficiency improvement as well as automation of the production process is often more important factors for the price on the final product. We don't wish to move our business out of Norway and in to the Baltic States. If it is possible for Ekornes to maintain a profitable production in Norway, it is possible for us,” concludes Pedersen.

“We are of the opinion that our delivery capability, trade offers and competence, as well as the proximity to the relevant market, are extremely important factors to maintain an advantage in the Norwegian market for office-furniture,” Pedersen continues.

Chairman Reidar Eriksen in Søndre Land municipal says in a comment "Land municipal see it as very important to contribute to secure a continued conduct of the corner stone companies in Hov and Dokka. The work places and the competence at these companies are of vital matter for the employment in our district. The municipal looks at the great local involvement for a new company to run it positively and with great interest. We also look forward to a solid collaboration with HOV+DOKKA in Oslo".
