Haga candidate to UN post

Former government minister and former leader of the Agrarian Party Åslaug Haga, has agreed to stand as Norway's candidate to the post of new chairperson of the UN Commission on the Status of Women.

The Commission is the United Nations' principal policymaking body dedicated to gender equality and women’s advancement.

In addition to serving as government minister, Haga has worked 14 years in the Norwegian Department of Foreign Affairs.
