Goltens and Tekomar to form strategic engine service partnership

New strategic partnership forms the best competitive market alternative for independent diesel engine repairs and services through high tech engine competence and global service.

Goltens, the leading independent global diesel engine repair company, today signed an engine service agreement with Tekomar, the newly established, Switzerland-based diesel engine specialist offering technical, consulting and engineering support.

The partnership is focused on providing highly reliable and OEM-compliant repair and service solutions for a wide range of existing diesel engines and new high tech service products being introduced to the merchant marine market.

The agreement appoints Goltens as Tekomar’s exclusive ship repair partner for service and routine maintenance of engines and gives Tekomar access to Goltens global pool of skilled engineers and repair technicians.

“The collaboration of Goltens and Tekomar allows global ship owners the opportunity to choose best in class, independent engine repair services from two market leaders. Together we can address the urgent and growing market concern for OEM-independent technical, spare parts, consulting and repair services,” says Paul Friedberg, President, Goltens Worldwide Services.

Tekomar’s specialist competence on modern 2-stroke and 4-stroke diesel engines and Goltens’ years of experience and high level of expertise in diesel engine and in-situ machining services, gives the market a leading independent solution, tailored to the global operational needs of ship owners.

“The target of this cooperation is to combine the forces of two leading specialists in engine repairs to develop new and highly valuable repair services to the benefit of ship owners. Together we have the speed, expertise and global footprint to give ship owners competitive, quality engine services,” says Friedberg.

According to Goltens and Tekomar, today’s monopoly situation where engine OEMs demand full control of after sales, spare parts and repair activities is a cost disadvantage to the ship owner.

“Creating an alternative to this monopoly will give the market new room for innovations, price competitive offerings, new possibilities to get independent views in disputes with a non-political, straight forward technical approach,” says Beat Güttinger, Managing Director, Tekomar.

Tekomar and Goltens bring to the market a very broad experience in diesel engine service and repair.

“Goltens is well-established in the marine services industry with specialist know-how in complex engine and machinery overhauls and in-situ machining services. Goltens worldwide network stands for the same principles as Tekomar does; availability, competence, quality and reliability. We are delivering our services worldwide and we ensure our customers consistent quality; anytime, anywhere.” says Güttinger.

“With high level technical know-how and lean engineering and service capabilities, Goltens and Tekomar will be the right partner for ship owners looking for the full range of engine repair solutions. Together we aim to be the leading independent service provider in this very important industry,” concludes Friedberg.
