Gateway to ICT - Visiting program to Colombia

Bogotá and Medellín, 23-27 April 2012: Gateway to ICT is a corporatevisiting program that offers your company the possibility to visit Colombia for one week to meet the Ministry of Communications and five of the principal mobile operators in the country, namely; Comcel, Movistar, Uff, UNE and Tigo.

An Emerging Market of Great Potential

The Colombian Telecom market is a very upcoming market with an expected annual growth of 4.5 % over the next 10 years. Internet usage in Colombia is increasing rapidly and in 2010 the market for internet usage occupied the number one position in in all Latin America by growing 31%.

 

By the government initiative “Vive Digital”, Colombia has a strong focuson the development of ICT in the country and the government announces that it will promote the investments for expansion of the number of internet connections through fiber optics, and 3G and 4G, over the coming three years. The initiative is expected to triple or even quadruple the number of internet users; thus opening a huge market for a number of ICT solutions, products and services. Several Nordic companies have already successfully entered the ICT market, such as Ericsson, Nokia and Kinnevik (Millicom-Tigo) and more companies are planning to enter within the nearest future.

 

Targeting the Nordic ICT Industry

The visiting program is targeting Nordic telecom providers as well as other companies that operate within the telecom industry withexpressed interests in the Colombian market.During one week, corporate meetings will be organized at every one of the five Colombian Telecom giants, following a programwhich is 100 % tailored to the preferences of the participating Nordic companies. The objective is to pave the way for establishing new business relationships between Nordic and Colombian companies within the ICT industry.
