Furniture exports soar for Ekornes

Norwegian furniture manufacturer Ekornes, which generates 70 percent of its business abroad, foresees strong growth in exports as global demand for Norwegian-designed furniture rises.

Company chief Jens Petter Ekornes reported a healthy 18-percent hike in earnings through the first three quarters of 2000 despite disappointing sales within Norway itself. Fully one-fifth of Ekornes' revenue comes from the United States.
